Wide, heavy, fabulous, 100% cotton yardage.

This is super fun . . . I found a lovely old, vintage, mid-century tablecloth and had the weave copied. The fabric is 275 GSM (8.11 oz / yard) which is basically equivalent to a medium weight canvas. However, the yarn is thinner and the weave is tighter, which makes for a smoother finish than a regular canvas but still with a lovely texture and a good bit of heft. Perfect for anything from napkins to aprons to curtains to pillows to tablecloths to bags to skirts!

Plain weave, useable width 62”

About the Design

You might notice that this "Hedgerose" pattern is also used on one of the dishtowels. It is based off of scrap of mid-century Russian roller-printed chintz but with a fresher color palette. As I recall, I designed it in the car as we drove across Oregon to attend the annual tulip festival. Originally I designed it for my daughter's bedding (which turned out quite fab) but I loved the pattern so much I felt I needed to have it produced in bulk so that it can make an appearance on any number of other things. Plans for a spring tablecloth for my own table are currently underway . . . as well as zipper pouches for travel. Also a skirt for a granddaughter. Possibly an apron as well? Time will tell!

Care

Like all cotton, you should expect shrinkage after your first wash so be sure to pre-wash before tackling your project. After washing on warm and tumble drying, 1 yard of fabric will be roughly 61.5" wide x 33.5" long.

Materials & Size

62" width (pre-wash), 61.5" x 33.5" (post-wash per yard)

Heavy weight as mentioned. You could use it to make a slipcover for a chair or something it's that heavy. The color faded a bit but I like the more subdued colors. The price is excellent for the value. Can't wait for more patterns ;)

Beautiful fabric! If I didn't buy it new, I would have thought it was vintage new old stock, because the quality is as superb as the table linens made in the olden days. Very well done!

Thank you, April!
