This drying stone is made from diatomaceous earth, which is a powder of tiny, fossilized sea creatures. It is naturally anti-bacterial, anti-microbial, and anti-fungal, as well as being unbelievably absorbent. Set this stone next to your sink and place all your freshly washed dishes on it to drip dry. Unlike a dishtowel or cloth mat which gets soaked quickly and starts smelling bad if left consistently wet for any length of time, this drying stone will absorb a huge amount of water from your dish-doing activities while staying consistently dry and fresh. And it’s so much cuter than those rubber things! It’s like having a cheery dishtowel spread next to your sink but ever so much more effective!

 

I have used mine every single day for over nine months and it's almost never not covered in a pile of drying pots and pans - but it's still somehow magically never dripping wet. I'm totally addicted to mine!
About the Design

This “Rosetta" design is a combo mashup inspired by two wildly different antique textiles - and I think the finished product turned out to be far more than the sum of its parts! That terrific border is based off an absolutely amazing tiny hooked rug that I found in an antique store in southern Idaho, and the floral center is riffing off a 19th century French chintz. (And if you have a drying stone with roses on it, how can you NOT call it the Rosetta Stone?)
Care

Every so often, let the stone dry completely out in a well-ventilated place. If the surface becomes dirty, give it a scrub and rinse. Do not soak it in water for a long time.  If it absorbs colored water, it may remain as a stain - so set your teabags elsewhere! Soft Scrub with Bleach is helpful for removing stains but excessive surfactants may cause clogging of the surface so use only as needed rather than as a daily routine. Remember that the stone itself is already anti-bacterial!

Absolutely stunning, and a workhorse to boot. It’s beauty brings a smile to my face every time I do the dishes. Besides being gorgeous, it is larger and far more effective than the MANY drying mats I have gone through in the past few years. LOVE IT! Highly recommend.

This drying stone is BEAUTIFUL! I absolutely LOVE the size. It covers the whole area underneath my drying rack. And it does what it is supposed to do…absorbs the drips from my dishes, which evaporates fully. I have had other stones, but they were an eyesore. I’ll be repurposing them to use under potted plants and enjoying my new ARTWORK on my counter!

First of all, the Rosetta Stone design is a beautiful addition to our little country kitchen! But, besides that, I am just thrilled with how absorbent it is! We have a small kitchen sink, so if the dishes don’t get dried and put away immediately, we are in trouble. There is no room to wash something out or even wash our hands if there are dirty dishes in the other side. This stone has solved that problem and looks great doing it! Plus, it is the perfect size!

Absolutely beautiful!
This lovely print makes doing the dishes each day a little less daunting. It cheers me up, keeps the dishes/sink area smelling fresh, and works great.
Great price, beautiful product-highly recommend. Also, the size is perfect-not too big, not too small.
